Take That Next Step In Your Training With Our Instrument Pilot Program

Whether you want to become a better pilot or be able to fly in conditions that don't meet visual flight rules (VFR)  The Pilot Place's instrument pilot flight program is for you. Our team of trained pilots provides one-on-one flight training on all our programs. According to FAA Part 61 regulation, a pilot must fly at least 40 hours in an instrument-rated aircraft to apply for an instrument rating. To complete this program, you need to meet the following requirements:

  • Current private pilot license before applying for an instrument rating
  • A private pilot must receive at least 15 hours of instrument rating instruction from a CFII
  • Apart from instrument instruction, a pilot must have logged at least 50 hours of cross-country time as PIC
  • An instrument rating trainee must fly one cross-country flight at least 250 nautical miles along airways and air traffic-directed routes
  • Practice three different kinds of approaches using the navigation systems.

To pass the instrument flight program, individuals will need to complete the following:

  • Pass a knowledge test (written)
  • Pass a practical test (flight)

For detailed requirements, call us today. If you are unsure about taking a flight program, try our discovery flight. This gets people in the air to see if it is something you want to try.
